Kelvin Law is an Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His research uses forensic methods to detect corporate deception, investigating greenwashing, fraud, tax avoidance, and diversity tokenism at scale. He develops novel measurement approaches using job postings, linguistic analysis of SEC filings, and machine learning to reveal what companies actually do, not what they claim. His work has been published in leading journals including Nature, Management Science, the Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and the Review of Accounting Studies. His research has been featured in the BBC, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, CNA, The Straits Times, and other major media outlets. Before academia, Kelvin was a Senior Corporate Tax Advisor at KPMG Hong Kong, where he gained firsthand experience in how corporations construct narratives. That experience now informs his research in deconstructing them. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.Sc. in Economics from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Beta Gamma Sigma), and a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham (First Class Honors, Ranked #1). Kelvin serves on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review and Accounting, Organizations and Society. He engages with regulators including the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore on corporate misconduct issues.
